Well, were did we go? We disappeared from the blog-o-sphere. I am going to try to start blogging again, I love the thought of getting caught up, but we will see. The rodeo pictures have GOT to go. Caroline Turns Four by Sandy Landry

Here is a story that Caroline's Nini (Sandy to the rest of us or Mom to Josh) wrote for her to remember her 4th birthday party. I will do a picture post this weekend.

Caroline was turning four the very next day. She wasn’t sure if she would turn four in the night, and if she would feel it when it happened. What if her feet grew an inch during the night and when she awoke she appeared taller, more like a four year old?

Sometimes Caroline didn’t understand the difference between “tomorrow” and “day after tomorrow,” “later,” “soon,” “in a little while,” and “a long time from now.” They were all words that meant “a long time and NOT NOW.” She knew that for sure. So even though everyone had told her the birthday was “tomorrow,” she was still surprised when she awoke and everyone said, “You are four years old today,” and she knew she must have done it without trying at all, but she didn’t seem one bit taller.

She was having her friends over for her Daddy donut birthday party. That was because she and her daddy always went out for donuts on Saturday morning and she wanted to share her special fun with her friends. On her birthday, she was inviting all of her friends to join her for breakfast. They were coming early in the morning and they were even wearing their pjs to play and eat donuts with her.

Caroline’s mommy had a special outfit for Caroline to wear. It had a C on the front with long flowy pants and ruffles on the bottom. On an ordinary day, Caroline would have thought it was a very pretty outfit, but when she saw her friends arrive in their pjs, she didn’t think her pretty outfit was “comfy” enough, so she went quietly to her room and put on her old princess nightgown, the one that was too short and looked a little dirty and was frayed around the edges. Caroline felt so comfy and so beautiful when she went outside with her friends. As she passed her Nini, her Nini asked, “Caroline, are you sure it’s all right to wear that gown to your party, to which she replied, “Of course it is, it is beautiful. Her mommy was so surprised when Caroline came out in her new outfit.

Before long, all of her friends had arrived. There were lots of friends: Colin, Gabriel, Haley, Leah, Nora, Maggie, Judd, and two Graces, and two Carolines. They ran around and jumped on Caroline’s new trampoline and played in her little play house and stirred things in her little kitchen. They even ran into her room and tried on her play clothes.

Caroline wanted to share with her friends, but it was hard , especially when everyone put on her jewelry. For a minute, she was a little sad, but then she remembered that when she played at their houses they always shared with her, so she let them wear her very best jewelry and her prettiest clothes. Everyone looked very beautiful dressed up like princesses and fairies. Caroline thought perhaps her boy friends were best; they never wanted to wear her play clothes.

When Caroline blew out her candles, she huffed and she puffed like the mean old wolf, and she blew them all out and even had lots of air left. No one knew she had been practicing for weeks to be able to blow them all out in such a grand way.

The very best part was when Mr. Ed came. Mr. Ed was a very funny man who played his guitar and sang songs with the kids. He sang songs about a great big fish eating little fish and abc’s and lots of exciting things and the children sang with him and danced and had a great time. Since Caroline was the birthday girl, she got to hold the hungry caterpillar while Mr. Ed sang about him.

After Caroline opened her gifts, all the kids mommy’s helped clean up and gather up their things and rushed home. Well, Caroline thought they rushed home, because she hated to see them go.

When everyone had gone, Caroline wanted to know when her birthday was coming again. “Oh, Caroline, her mommy said. It will be a whole year until you are five.”

Caroline wanted to know how many fingers she could hold up when she was five and she began practicing right away for her next birthday.

I am 30. I am a blessed girl.... the best husband, 2 sweet /feisty girls, thoughtful friends and a great family. I couldn't ask for anything more {well maybe to stay 29 forever}

Saturday night I got to start celebrating! Some friends put together a party and it was so much fun, I felt so special. There was GREAT food, lots of chocolate and the BEST sangria{wish I had some right now}. I was a horrible photographer and didn't take many pictures, so mad at myself about that! Everything was so pretty, it deserved pictures. oh well, I will never forget.

First day of Mother's Day Out. She was not in a picture taking kind of mood.

We found one of C's buddies and took a quick picture before before we ventured off to the classrooms. {they have been hunting for rollie pollies during recess, both of their dads hunt (a lot), the rollie pollies better watch out!}

She is having a good time and she LOVES the return of chapel time, she often gets to lead the prayer, which she loves. She is learning some new songs, again a love of hers. And being a former PreK(ish) teacher I am very pleased with the activities they are doing when we enter the classroom. The teachers say she is a joy, friendly, and very helpful. That makes a mamma's heart sing. On a side note, she always helps the crying smaller kids on the playground reassuring them their mommies will always come back. (something she was famous for doing last year, isn't that cute!)

Susanna has definently been a mommy's girl for a good 13 months, well we stopped nursing and she decided that her daddy is pretty special too. She is so cute with him and always rests her head on his shoulder and pats his back, something she never does with me. I miss my momma's girl, but it melts my heart to see them together. And a bonus is Miss Caroline has decided that she wants her mommy to do stuff for her again when daddy is around. Love these girls so much.

The end of July we spent the weekend with Josh's family at Lost Pines. We had a great time, I did not get as many pictures as I would have liked, but these turned out cute! It is hard taking pictures when you are on the lazy river or playing in the sand or chasing down a one year old...!
Some of our favorite things about the trip: movie nights, smores after dinner(Josh is an expert marshmallow roaster), the lazy river, sand, swimming, hanging out with family....... We had a great time! Thanks Nini and Papa!

I have typed this post more than 3 times, each time saving to come back and publish later. I come back, BOOM, the post has disappeared into to blogosphere. So I am going to write and publish this post and if there are millions typos please forgive me. :)

Susanna is funny. I need to potty train her soon, changing her diaper is like changing a wild gorilla baby's diaper. After 1o months of diaper changes she has not given up trying to escape (and yes sometimes pees on the floor on these escaping adventures, shhhh don't tell her dad) She gets really wild when she is tired, she does everything super fast. Cracks -us- up. She laughs hysterically when I tell her no-no, we don't know what we think about that:) She is mommy's girl, which mommy loves. She loves messing with Caroline, she loves her big sister's room. They are so sweet together. Susanna loves waving every time we go outside, pointing at anything she finds interesting(which is really cute), and she is cruising all over the place. I think she will be walking soon, we will see! the end!

Head Circumference 17 3/4 inches (90th) uh oh, she has her mom and Bebe's big head!

I can't believe this baby girl is already 9 months old! I want to freeze time. She is so precious and on the go! She has started this sweet habit, every night right before I put her in the crib I say, "night night." Right after I say it, she nuzzles her face into my neck and gives me a baby hug. It is precious, and she is like a little monkey, every time I say " night night" she does it, you know I say it over and over because I love getting her sweet hugs. She has started playing "coy" with anyone that makes eye contact with her, she buries her face into me and hides. Again, precious. She still loves Gymboree, and is in love with Gymbo. If you are not familiar with Gymbo, he is the main clown for Gymboree. The past 2 weeks she has really started eating her food, she gags on anything. She is super sensitive to texture of food. So we are just taking it slow and not pushing her. Caroline desperately wants to feed her:) Still no teeth, Dr. Ho did think her gums were swollen today. So maybe sometime soon she will get them. She will not let me look in her mouth. Actually, she won't let me do anything to her. She fights diaper changes, lotion, nose wiping, nasal spray, temp taking........... I don't mean puts up a little fight, I mean I have to have another adult help me restrain her if I really have to do something to her. The nurse commented today that she is REALLY strong, yes I agree! One strong willed big sister and one physically strong little sister. Watch out for the Landry Girls! Oh, and separation anxiety has SET IN. I can't leave her in the gym nursery long before they page me, and same with the church nursery. I don't mind, I miss her too! We love this sweet girl and she has filled our house with so much more happiness.

*****Update, I called this morning. They are sending a "retrieval" kit. So I had to dry the bug leg and send it back with the jar. Oh, and they are sending me some coupons. Ha, anyone want some baby food coupons?!

Feeding the girls dinner tonight. Open up a new jar of baby food for Susanna, give it a stir. UUUUMMM, notice something strange in the jar. BUG LEG people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, if you have any tips. I do make Susanna some baby food, but I will be making all of it going forward! I would be interested to read some other moms homemade baby food experiences! And any tips!

You may be wondering where months, 6&7 went?? I myself am wondering the same thing, I am thinking about firing the person I have running the blog. Oops that would be me! Anywho... on to Susanna Banana. This sweetie is stealing all of our hearts. She is so precious and so busy! She loves standing at Caroline's Lego table, especially if C is playing at it too. She can move at record speeds, I will leave the room and the next thing I know she is on my heels. This month she has decided she likes baby food. Up until now, it has been a waste of time offering it to her. It would end up everywhere but in her mouth. Those days are over, she gobbles it up, she loves a certain Pasta Dinner baby food and pureed spinach mixed with rice cereal. Caroline is so sweet to S and Susanna SQUEALS when she sees her sister. I think she is her favorite:) Susanna has never been a big fan of the church nursery or anything similar to it, but now she REALLY dislikes being left. She SCREAMS. But, hey I am used to it, her sister still throws a bit of a fit when we leave her anywhere. We feel so blessed, but so tired. Still waiting for these teeth to pop through! Oh, did I mention she is semi-cruising on furniture. And she LOVES her gymboree class. It melts my heart how much she likes other babies. Too cute. Ok, enough of my mommy ramblings!

I need to just pay someone to fix my blog! I get tired of things quickly, no matter how much I like them. I always want to change things up. Even our house, I move decorations around quite often. Just thinking about it makes me happy. Wish I could "shop" some friends blogs to redecorate my own. I think I would pick Victoria:) I am waiting for inspiration to fix it.... hopefully I get some soon!

PLEASE excuse my annoying high pitched "video" voice. A great gift I received for Christmas was a Flip Mino. It is a little bitty cutiest camcorder you have ever seen. Anyway, I have been messing with it and wanted to try posting videos from it. Here are some of my first attempts.

Tomorrow, Thursday, Grace our sweet little friend is getting her trach taken out. Remember previous posts about her?? I am sure you do and of course her sweet picture has been on the sidebar of the blog for some time now. Anyway, Please pray that the surgery goes well and for continued improvement in Grace's speech! Bridget, her mom, put up a recent post about the end of the trach.... A huge praise is that they qualified for a great program, providing continued therapy for Grace. Normally there is a 7 year wait to get approved for this program, but they got approved in 4 months. How good is our God?!
Please say a big prayer for all for all of them!! Thank you friends!

As I have thought about Grace today, this verse came to my mind over and over.

well in the midst of swimming, standing, nose wiping, and so on.... A very big event happened that I don't feel I can go with out mentioning. A new President for our wonderful USA. I came across this post on another blog and I really, really agree with it. You may not, but that is ok. Here in Landry Land we are praying for our America and our new President.

Look what I found this little girl doing this week. C insisted I get this toy out of the garage for Susanna. I am glad I listened, she immediately figured out how to do this by herself after I brought it in! Maybe she was showing off because her sister has been going to swimming lessons and learning so much, she didn't want to be left behind! Swimming pictures coming soon! Caroline is turning into a little fish.

Oh man. Our family is doing well, besides the constant fit throwing by a certain 3 year old. I won't name names. I am turning the computer off and helping her (& the rest of us) get through this "fun" time. Be still my heart about turning the computer off. I will be back soon, I hope. Send a search party if I am gone too long! :) I am being a bit dramatic, it must be rubbing off from the unnamed 3 year old!

Our church puts on a GREAT puppet show at Christmas. On Saturday we took the girls. Caroline loved it, Susanna enjoyed half of it, napped the other half:) Caroline and Josh sat in the front and center of the stage. Every time I could get a glimpse of C's face, she was mesmerized. We had a great time.

What a great half a year this has been. Pictures don't do this little one's cuteness justice. She is so sweet, but so determined. Don't get in the way of her grabbing at what she wants! Usually whatever cup I am drinking out of at the moment. Caroline can get her laughing like no other, she laughs and laughs when her sister plays with her.

Stats: 16 lbs

She loves bathtime, watching the dogs, playing in her exersaucer, talking to anyone, being held, "standing", moving around and getting whatever object she is yearning for! Not a big fan of baby food.

***** Thanks for your prayers. It is over and we are glad about that. The test was not fun, but the results look like she does Not have kidney reflux, yay! One funny thing, they did an ultrasound of her kidneys. She looked at me and said, "I hope I can have a little baby for you Mommy. " Then later she told Josh's mom, " I have a little baby in my tummy." UUUMM No C, there are no babies in your tummy! I know that was probably confusing to her, but it sounded pretty funny coming out of a 3 year olds mouth.
Caroline goes at 3:00 today to get some tests at Tx Children's Hospital. She has had several UTI's so the tests are to determine if she has kidney reflux. They are quick tests, but sometimes she is not cooperative. So I am just worried she will make it worse than it has to be....

5 months

I had to hurry up and write Susanna's 5 month post because she is going to be six months old before we know it! Oh Susanna, she is so precious and sweet. She rarely cries, but when she does she MEANS it. The nursery worker at church talks about her temper fits she throws. Yes, they page me everywhere I leave her. Which is fine with me, I am usually missing her when the pager goes off anyway. This little girl likes her mommy, a lot. She LOVES watching her sister and Daddy, and recently she discovered the dogs. At one of C's dr's visits I weighed her and she weighed 16 lbs, she is getting chubby and cute. She is the perfect addition to our family. Don't I say that every post, well it is true!

Caroline on the morning of her 3rd Birthday!

Our sweet Caroline has turned 3. This fact seems surreal to me, so I think that is why the post has taken so long. It feels like yesterday was the first day we brought her home. But, here we are 3 year later, in a different city, different house, with a 3 year old and a baby sister. It is WILD to me.

Miss Caroline blows us away everyday with the things she says, notices and her crazy antics. Her spiritual side is so sweet and our prayer for her is for that to grow into a sweet and real relationship with Jesus. Her prayers are so funny and her in sites about God usually have us holding back tears of laughter.

Somethings about C that I don't want to forget.
Her loves: Dress up, she always wants to go the mall:), she loves to put her clothes on by herself, she LOVEs to cook, she is not too picky of an eater, she hates to be left at church and school (cries every time), at school when the tears are gone she is teacher's helper, the girl can dance I mean she can GET DOWN, she has as an amazing memory, she does not like to show off what she knows ex. she knows her colors but when asked she will not tell you them, loves to read, loves music, loves her family, she is protective of her sister, talks to her sister with the sweetest baby voice, always negotiating something, getting Saturday morning donuts with daddy ....
Her dislikes: Daddy leaving for work, lids on her cup, having her hair fixed, not being in the action, ummm not being in Charge:)

Months ago Josh picked C up from her Sunday school class. Her teacher shared some hard family things with him, he felt the Lord lead him to pray for her. So he did and it meant a lot to her. Today I pick C up from Sunday school, she had a substitute teacher, after C walks out of the gate, she turns around and tells the teacher she has to pray for her. She grabs the teacher's hand, she says a little prayer and tells her good bye. I wiped tears from my eyes as she ran down the hall. What a sweetie.

Any day In God's Heart Ministry will have a new website. Josh has spent countless hours putting the finishing touches on the site, I will let everyone know when it is up and running! And the ministry is also getting a blog! These are some pictures from Josh's trip to Lubumbashi in February. We want to blog about the boys, of cours, but also how different everyday life is in L'shi. These pictures are a perfect example of the differences. My mom has dreams about Target while she is there, you can see why!

A few posts ago I mentioned our sweet friend Grace who went through a big surgery last week. I am sure you noticed her smiling face on the side of the blog. She is already home, a WEEK early!! WOO HOO for the Roth Family. Another reminder for me what an AWESOME Father we serve. So the Roth's are all home! Now, begins the at home care and all of that stuff(things I know nothing about). I will keep Grace's sweet picture up for awhile as a reminder for myself to pray for Grace and that the surgery's outcome is super successful. Thanks to all of you who lifted her up this past week!

Well this has been a busy month, here is a run down. Hurricane Ike, lots of birthdays, rolling over often, finding feet, screaming for joy, holding toys, BIG laughing, "talking", and birthday parties. Susanna is such a joy, she is so peaceful and happy. She LOVES her big sister, and we LOVE her. She has had a cold, but she is handling it pretty well. She really enjoys watching her sister do anything. She has the sweetest little voice. A common thing strangers say about her is, "you could just have several of her." And they are so right, she is so precious, you just want like 10 of her!

We hit the road when we saw that Ike was on it's way to Houston. Who wants to be without electricity with a little one? Not me! We headed to Cleburne and had a great time. Thanks to Josh's parents for feeding us and for the non stop play with Caroline! We were there to celebrate Nini's birthday and lots of other fun things. Josh was able to work from his Blackberry and laptop, so it really was a nice time for all. Here are some pictures. Oh, and I got to get a "Kristi" haircut. Kristi has been cutting my hair for almost 9 years and I try to go to her whenever we are in the DFW area. :)

I have been meaning to post several things, but the previous post about Droolio has kept me from down loading pictures. Susanna has not been a happy camper at all:( Anyway, more pictures/posts to come soon. Some of you have asked and yes we survived Ike, just a bit of damage to a fence. We feel so blessed.

Susanna is quite drooly. I discovered recently it is because of a tooth! I was suspecting something was up because she has not been her normal happy self, as you can see in the pictures. Caroline did not get a tooth until she was almost 10 months old. And here Miss Susanna is knocking one out at 3.5 months old! I am in total shock. Ok, that is a bit of an exaggeration. I am surprised.

I had to add this picture of C, she wanted to wear an outfit like me today. Black shirt and khaki shorts.

Congratulations to our friends, the Page Family! They are expecting a new baby the end of March! Yay! We love their little one Savannah Grace and can't wait until we find out if nugget #2 is going to be a little brother or sister!

Josh took Caroline out and about one Saturday. Their usual trip usually consists of going to Bass Pro Shop to look at the fish, play in the mall play area and finish with lunch. This trip was taken before C was potty trained. Check out the Diaper Bag Josh packed on his own:) Josh, if you read this I am not making fun of you! I truly think it is cute!

Off to school

Caroline was off to "school" this morning. She was most excited about the blanket I made her for nap time. This is the first time she had nap time at school. Her teacher told me she was the only one that didn't sleep. I am not surprised. I remember when I was in Kindergarten, I could not sleep. She was quite tired when I picked her up. The first thing she wanted was a snack and then she took a nice long nap at home. All in all I think it was a good day, there were a few tears shed, but not many:) I know she will warm up to it and really enjoy herself.

And by the way, you fellow Sugar Land bloggers, wasn't it a wonderful morning, we are ready for some cooler weather!

Ok, this post is a bit late, but better late than NEVER right?!

Susanna is so sweet, I say that every month. But it is so true. She is precious and laid back. She has the cutest little smile and the chubbiest cheeks! We love her and feel so tremendously blessed to be her parents.

Tricks and events of this month: Babbling, smiling all the time, turning over, scooting around her crib like a little inch worm, sucking on her hands fingers(might be a finger/thumb sucker), looking around for familiar voices, sleeping through the night, horrible diaper rash(pampers are bad news for this little one's bootie), naps most of the morning, is active in afternoon/evening, loves baths, but does not like post-bath rituals(Caroline loved this time when she was a baby)... and so much more!

It has been a busy week here in Landry Land. Last weekend was a whirlwind trip to Louisiana for Josh's grandparent's 6oth wedding anniversary. 60 years, isn't that cool?! Then, Josh left town Monday for work. We are all tired and it looks like a tornado hit the inside of our house:) But, we all had a nice time. I am voting for a work trip for me! Ha! What do you think?

Anyway here are some pictures. I am posting a lot because this is the easiest way for my mom to view pictures when she is in Congo. Hi Mom! Enjoy!

Oh my! I am sitting next to a chatter box. Isn't almost 3 years old to early to be so chatty? Why this, why that. Talking about everything she sees in the room. An excerpt from our current conversation: Cookies, old cups, decorations, naps, milk, the dogs scratching, trucks driving by, sleeping, snoring, needing someone to hold her, why?,hearing something in her room, what do you think it was mommy, a monster, mommy, mommy being loud during nap, a woodpecker waking her up from her nap, sister, being upset and whining, a little singing of Open Shut Them, how puppies eat cookies and of course Jesus....... Do you get the picture? It is precious, don't get me wrong. But, it is non stop. All day. Oh this girl makes me laugh!

And on a side note, she dressed herself for the first time today, she came in my room while I was getting ready and said "don't I look pretty?" The outfit included a dirty, backwards dress with black pants underneath and green crocs on the wrong feet. If I could get her to put matching outfits on we would be in business. It was nice to only get one little girl ready:)
